Just finished Lead Certification program.  I would strongly suggest if you are purchasing/renovating a home built before 1978 to follow guidelines.  Per our instructor EPA has already issued 8 citations in the past 2 weeks in the Dallas area.  Eash citation is a fine of $32,500.

That's good info- I passed it on to one of my contractors.  ONe thing i hope to see on the page you referenced is what exactly is covered by the lead paint reg...if you dont disturb the paint, it appears you are in good shape- but at times that will be done (not on every rehab).

When I contacted the EPA, they stated that if you own the home and are doing repairs yourself these restrictions don't apply, even if you are reselling the property. I ask about three or four times "what if we purchased it only to fix up and sell?" The answer was the same, so this applies if you hire the work, not if you do it yourself was the message I got. Anyone heard anything different. If you do work for others it would also apply.
